AIS Reading Instruction at the Intermediate Level
Grade 3 and Grade 4
AIS reinforces classroom instruction of fluency, vocabulary and comprehension through literature and informational texts. AIS support at the intermediate level can focus on the following:

One effective way to ensure a life-long love of reading is to read with your child each evening. You will be able to watch them grow as readers as the year progresses! Children love to have stories read to them. If you are able to set aside a few minutes each night, perhaps before bed, to read a short story or chapter to your child, this is a valuable investment in your child’s life as a learner!
Reading Fluency:
- Reading leveled texts at an appropriate rate with proper phrasing and expression.
Vocabulary Instruction:
- Instruction in words necessary for effective communication.
Reading Comprehension:
- Understanding, remembering and communicating meaning from what is read.
